About the Crime Writers’ Association
The CWA was founded in 1953 – that’s sixty years of support, promotion and celebration of this most durable, adaptable and successful of genres. We run the prestigious Dagger Awards, which celebrate the best in crime writing.
The Crime Writers’ Association is one organisation with over 600 ambassadors. It’s been sixty years since John Creasey founded the CWA with the remit of promoting and supporting the genre. The association has gone from strength to strength without losing sight of our original mission and our membership is diverse with writers at all stages of their writing careers.
